The Intentional Dreams Productions Company is a not-for-profit bilingual Film and Theatre production company. Its creation is born of the initiative and strong desire of Gilles Plouffe and of a group of actors, Julie Barbeau, Luiza Cocora, Jean-Paul Figasso, Cindy François, Valérie Gagnon-Laniel, Owain Harris, Liza Stekolnikova, Leigh Ann Taylor, all passionate about the Realistic School of Acting.
The work phylosophy and spirit of the company is inspired by a method called the Organic Creative Process created by John Strasberg.
The company has an integrated mandatory weekly training program with regular showcase presentations. Members also consistently continue to study realistic acting with Gilles Plouffe and/or Mr Strasberg. This way the members are constantly growing, developing and improving their skills in the application of their artistic creative process.
The company generates work opportunities for its members by creating, developing and producing Theatre and Film projects.
Our mission is to produce and present a variety of productions with a well-advised choice of repertoire that truly represents all the creative aspects of the company and by so doing, allow its members to develop and blossom in a wide range of aspects such as acting, writing, directing and teaching. The members are committed to strive to achieve the highest standards of excellence in Film and Theatre productions fostered by the Principals of the Realistic School.
The Intentional Dreams Productions Company aims to pursue the study of acting according to the realistic school, inspired by renowned actors and teachers such as Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Cheryl Crawford and Harold Clurman and what they did in New York in the 1930's by committing to the study of the Stanislavsky Method. Their belief in and passion for this work method resulted in the foundation of the famous "Group Theatre Company", after they witnessed a performance of Stanislavski's Moscow Art Theatre Company touring in North America. They had never seen such realistic, believable acting before!
Today we continue to work with the essence of Realistic Acting with John Strasberg, son of Lee Strasberg, who is one of the last direct descendants of this work method that has had an international influence in both the Film and Theatre industries. John’s technique, the Organic Creative Process, has evolved from his father’s teachings and the Stanislavski Method. His technique defines and trains talent, imagination, intuition and spontaneous inspiration. His basic training develops the actor’s knowledge of him/her self, beginning with, and developing from, one’s natural capacity to become deeply involved in a character’s world. An actor dreams awake, creating a new life from real and imaginary life. He/she makes the invisible world visible; expressing his/her intuitive and conscious vision of life in his/her art. Because an artist has something to say about life!
It is interesting to remind ourselves that this type of technique has influenced the work of such great artists as Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, Paul Newman, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Clifford Odets, Elia Kazan and many other great actors, writers, directors and producers.
